By: Fred Yaw Sarpong Alcatel-Lucent employees in Ghana volunteered by visiting the Soronko Foundation and spent a day with less privileged children at Mamobi, a suburb of Accra. The event form part of the Global Days of Caring 2014 initiative. The team of volunteers and the 30 children had a chance to meet Regina Agyare, a Computer Science graduate from the Ashesi University in Ghana, who is dedicated to empower girls from the slum area through ICT training, with a focus on IP and HTML coding. The event which was under the theme “You can also make it’ was for the Alcatel-Lucent volunteers to interact with the children by sharing real life experiences, motivate them to identifying their dreams for the future and train the children to set up email accounts and learn the basics of using the Internet.
