Gifty Tina Mensah- Best Deputy Minister
FAKS Investigative Services, a research and an investigative company announced to the general public the annual survey on the performance of Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Regional Ministers, Members of Parliament and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of State Owned Enterprises (SOEs).
Even though it is the President of the Republic who appoints majority of these
persons to serve Ghanaians, FAKS believes that the citizens are the best to assess the
works of these public officials.
As a result of that FAKS through it opinion survey, seek responses from Ghanaians as
to who is performing up to standard. Based on the responses from the survey, FAKS
ranks the best accordingly. The survey took place between the month of October and
December, 2017.
The 2017 survey was the 6th Edition since FAKS started assessing the performance of
Ministers, Deputies, Regional Ministers, MPs and others.
As part of the 2017 edition, FAKS team considered the performance of Heads of
Corporate Affairs of Ministries and agencies in the country. FAKS believes that these
persons are the face of the agencies and the ministries in terms of public relations or
responding to issues bordering the citizens.
FAKS rely on some journalists and some
Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) for feedbacks as well.
Feedbacks from the survey were taken from social media, face-to-face interviews
with the respondents, and compilation of forms.
In general, the respondents interviewed were students, petty traders, journalists,
CSOs, traditional rulers, academia, business owners, commercial drivers and among
others.
Issues that dominated during the survey included Ghana winning the maritime
litigation against Ivory Coast, introduction of paperless system at the various ports,
Free SHS implementation, restoration of nurses and teacher training allowances,
stable power (electricity), successful fight against illegal mining, reviewing of the
National Health Insurance Scheme, National Digital Property Addressing System, planting for food and job program, and among others.
About 61% of the respondents were between the ages of 18 and 50 while the
remaining 39% were between the ages of 51 and 70. Meanwhile, out of the 4,109
feedbacks received, 2,357 of the respondents, representing 57.36% were females while the remaining 1,752 representing 42.64% were males. The ranking was between 65% and 100%
