Sports Administrator, Mr. B T Baba is on track
to become Talensi Member of Parliament for the ruling National Democratic
Congress (NDC) following his victory in the parliamentary election held on
Sunday.
Baba, 67, polled 351 votes to book a straight
fight between him and Thomas Duanab Wuni, who is gunning for the seat on the
ticket of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Baba beat Eward Awunure who had 265 votes while Bazimwomit Charles Boazor garnered 53 vot`es.
The Talensi seat was declared vacant after the former MP Robert Nachinab Doameng Mosore of the NPP was elevated to the status of a paramount chief of the Tolon tradition area.
The Electoral Commission will take nominations for the said by-election on Tuesday, 23rd and Wednesday 24th June 2015, at the district office of the Commission at Tongo.
The Talensi by-election is slated for July 7. Candidates for the election shall provide two recent photographs (bust) showing the full face and both ears with red background, on the submission of their nomination forms.
The filing fee for the election is GH¢1,000.00.
